President Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ahmed Mohamed, known as “Two Four,” as Commissioner of Police on 5 April 2026.

He was presented with his letter of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

The position became vacant after former Commissioner Ismail Naveen retired last month. During the interim, Deputy Commissioner Farhad Fikry served as Acting Commissioner.

Ahmed Mohamed was selected after a second round of applications, alongside Farhad Fikry and Assistant Commissioner Abdulla Shareef. Following interviews, the Police Board recommended his appointment.

He brings nearly three decades of experience in Maldives Police Service, having served in both operational and investigative roles. He has also completed training in India and holds a Master’s degree in Shariah.

This is the third Commissioner appointed under the current administration.
