More than 500,000 tourists have visited Maldives so far this year.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, 502,252 visitors arrived in the country by March 4. This is 8.8 percent more than the same time last year, when 461,839 tourists had visited.

The largest number of tourists came from:

  • China
  • Russia
  • Italy
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany
  • 336,570 tourists stayed at resorts
  • 131,261 tourists stayed in guesthouses

Did You Know?

About 2.25 million tourists arrived in Maldives in 2025.

Tourism officials say the number of daily arrivals has dropped recently. This is because some flights have been cancelled due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Some travellers usually pass through airports in that region when flying to Maldives.

The government says it is working to restart cancelled flights and also bring flights from other countries so tourists can continue travelling to Maldives.
