Skate arena opens in Malé
President Mohamed Muizzu officially opened a new skate arena at Usfasgandu in Malé on 2 April 2026.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu and senior officials from Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC), which built the facility.
Built for young skaters
The skate arena was developed under RCC’s corporate social responsibility initiative, following a request from the government.
Work on the project began in October last year, when the foundation stone was laid.
A new space for sports
The facility is designed to support the growing interest in skating among young people in Maldives.
According to the Skate Association, the arena will give skaters a safe space to train, with facilities that meet international standards.
Children and young skaters also took part in the opening, marking the start of what is expected to become a popular sports spot in Malé.
