One of the world’s biggest music groups, BTS, is performing together again after several years, and the event is expected to draw massive crowds in South Korea.
A long awaited comeback
The seven members, RM, Jin, Suga, J Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, will perform together for the first time since October 2022. Their break was due to mandatory military service, with the last member completing it in June last year.
Massive crowds and global fans
Around 260,000 people are expected to gather at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. Only about 22,000 fans will be inside the main concert area, while the rest will watch from outside on giant screens.
The concert is expected to last about one hour and will feature songs from their new album, Arirang, which is set to be released this afternoon.
Fans from around the world have travelled to Seoul, and millions more will be able to watch the concert live online through Netflix, which has secured a streaming deal with the group.
Did You Know?
BTS have won over 483 awards and hold over 25 Guinness World Records.
New music and what’s next
After this performance, BTS is set to begin a world tour with 82 shows across more than 30 cities, including Singapore, Tokyo, Munich, and Los Angeles.
Strong security measures
Authorities are preparing carefully for the large crowd. Around 7,000 police officers will be deployed, along with special units and anti drone systems.
Access to the area will be controlled through 31 entry points with metal detectors, and some nearby subway stations will be closed.
More than just music
For many, this is more than just a concert. BTS has helped share Korean culture with the world, and their return is a major moment for both fans and South Korea.
